TEXARKANA, Ark. (KTHV) -- A 16-year-old female foreign exchange student was removed from a level 4 sex offender's home on Thursday.

Police reports state that 55-year-old Ronald Eitel recently moved to East 23rd Street in Texarkana.

Around 3 p.m. on Thursday, Texarkana police detectives removed the 16-year-old girl who had reportedly been living with Eitel and his wife since early August 2015.

Police learned that Eitel's wife, who used another name and identified as a single parent, applied to house the exchange student and was accepted following the placement protocol.

Both police and the placement agency simultaneously learned of Eitel residing in the home with the parent and exchange student just prior to removal of the student.

Eitel was charged in 1982 with 12 counts of rape and convicted of four counts. Upon conviction, Eitel received two 20 year sentences and two 60 year sentences that were run consecutively, which meant he was to spend the better part of his life in prison. That changed when his sentences were recently overturned and was released from the Texas Department of Corrections.

He was assessed and assigned the designated risk as Level 4, which is defined as a sexually violent predator with a very high risk to re-offend by the State of Arkansas.

The placement agency is working with police to find the girl a safe home.

The Texarkana Police Department is currently investigating any possible state or federal criminal charges that either Eitel or his wife may have committed.
