DOVER, Ark. (AP) - An Arkansas woman has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for fatally shooting her boyfriend at a home they shared with his ex-wife.

The Russellville Courier reports 37-year-old April Derrick pleaded guilty Monday to manslaughter. She was originally charged with first-degree murder in the March shooting death of 40-year-old Josh Garner at their Dover home.

Authorities say Derrick and her children lived at the home with Garner, his ex-wife and her children. They say the children weren't home at the time of the shooting.

Derrick says she tried to kick Garner out of the home and shot him after he threatened to kill her.
