POPE COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) – Tyler Barefield has been found guilty of two counts of capital murder for the deaths of Aaron Brock and Beau DeWitt.
Deputies found both Brock and DeWitt's bodies inside one of the crushed cars at U-Pull-It Auto Parts in September of 2016 after one of the families filed a missing person’s report. However, it wasn't the missing person report that led police to their bodies.
According to a police report, Tyler Barefield called police about "suspicious activity" at his family’s salvage yard. When police arrived on scene they found blood dripping from one of the cars.
Pope County Sheriff Jones said it wasn't the car crusher that caused their death. The two men were actually shot before being placed in the car, crushed, and then stacked on a pile of vehicles.
Barefield was originally arrested in September 2016 on two counts of capital murder.
Barefield was taken into custody after Wednesday night’s hearing. His bond has been revoked.
