LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - The Jacksonville Police Department announced John Franklin as their new police chief on May 15.
He was an adjunct professor of criminal justice at City Colleges of Chicago before accepting the position. Before that, he was the Chief of Police for the Dolton Police Department, just outside of Chicago.
He retired from the position of commander at the Chicago Police Department after 28 and a half years in 2010.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in speech and media communications as well as a master’s degree in criminal and social justice. He is also a graduate or certificate recipient of the Northwestern University Center of Public Safety and School of Staff and Command.
