JACKSONVILLE, Arkansas — At around 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, Jacksonville police officers responded to an accident involving a train and a vehicle on Redmond Road.
They found one person in the vehicle who was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to police, witnesses said that the railroad crossings were functioning correctly and the driver drove around the flashing barriers.
Police identified the driver as 64-year-old Edward Owen of Jacksonville.
