Sexual assault reported at UA Little Rock, police searching for suspect

According to the spokesperson for the university, the victim reported being sexually assaulted just after 5 p.m. this evening in Stabler Hall.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — According to the spokesperson for the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, the victim reported being sexually assaulted just after 5 p.m. Wednesday evening, Jan. 8 in Stabler Hall.

Students at the university were made aware through a text alert system and through email, which stated:

"At approximately 5:20 p.m. a sexual assault occurred in the women's restroom of Stabler Hall. Suspect left in unknown direction. University police are investigating."

According to the email sent out to the students on the day of the incident, the suspect was described as being 5 foot 10 inches tall black male aged 25 years old.

On Thursday, Jan. 9, the UA Little Rock Chancellor Christy Drale released a statement saying the suspect fled the scene. After an extensive search overnight, officers believe the suspect is no longer on campus. 

The University Police have received leads and are continuing to investigate. The University Police are also implementing additional foot patrols and other measures to ensure safety.
