LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - If you haven't had a chance to stop by Loblolly Creamery's new location, now might be the time to do so since it's National Ice Cream Month.

The local ice cream company, which serves up flavors like Arkansas Mud and Little Rock-y Road, moved out of The Green Corner Store in June and opened up right next door. While the doors have been open since early June, Loblolly has decided to celebrate with a grand opening event on Sunday, July 16 which just so happens to be National Ice Cream Day.

But it was the announcement that will surely catch the attention of the Natural State.

The company announced the grand opening in a Facebook video, where they offered up all the event details while mixing in clips of animals from the Little Rock Zoo having a taste of their delicious ice cream.

Sally Mengel, owner of Loblolly, said the zoo welcomed them with open arms to shoot the video, so long as the ice cream was animal friendly. And judging by the response from gorillas to donkeys to ant eaters, it was!

"We wanted to make a fun video to promote the new shop and what better way than with cute animals eating ice cream," she said.

Mengel said the new location will not only offer up more flavors to try, but a larger location to accommodate the customers.

If you decide to head down to the SoMa district to stop by Loblolly, it'll be hard to miss the new location. All you have to do is look for the cartoon-style ice cream cone which reflects the modern, but inviting location. And if that doesn't catch your eye, then the gold leaf lettering on the front door will!

Loblolly also serves more than just ice cream to help your sweet tooth. The new location offers up macarons, cookies, brownies, and coffee!
