Lonoke residents cheering on hometown boy Casey Martin in College World Series

The small town is buzzing about their hometown boy who is making history.

One of the star players on the field is Lonoke's own Casey Martin.

The small town is buzzing about their hometown boy who is making history. Ask Casey Martin's high school coach what to expect this week and he'll tell you the next two games will be a win for the Hogs. That's because he's watched Martin grow into the player he is and his hometown is expecting the same.

"They did a shout out of Lonoke on ESPN so that made us pretty excited as well," said Sydney Munnerlyn, Manager at Donut Palace who is making baseball donuts with “#15” written on them. “I was inspired to do these baseball donuts because Casey is from around here and we're really proud of him."

The Freshman All-American is etching his name in more than just school history, as he’s making his hometown proud.

“Everybody’s following the Razorbacks but more important there following Casey," said Hogs fan, Wendell Chapman. “He’s a hometown boy, he’s just a hometown boy."

“It’s a little odd considering 365 days ago he was coming up here working out getting ready to play summer league ball hoping for the best," said Martin’s Lonoke High School baseball coach, Chris Foor.

Foor saw his talent from the beginning

"When the year started you’d hear the announcer say something about Casey and you’re like well wait until you see the true ability, wait until you see one of those plays and now with the College World Series, he’s started to show that to the nation, he’s making one of those plays. If you put a challenge in front of Casey, watch out for the next game because something special is about to happen."
