Meals on Wheels in Austin delivers meals on Christmas Day

Meals on Wheels doesn't take a day off on Christmas, making sure all have a hot, nutritious holiday meal.

AUSTIN, Texas — Christmas is typically a day where many stay at home with their families, but volunteers with Meals on Wheels did not take the day off, delivering hundreds of meals to Central Texans.

This is the 13th year the non-profit organization has delivered hot, nutritious holiday meals on Christmas Day.

Meals on Wheels expected to deliver over 500 lunchtime meals on Tuesday.

"The holidays can be a lonely time for many of the homebound older adults we serve. But thanks to our paid kitchen staff and our incredible volunteers, we'll be able to deliver a hot meal along with some warm holiday cheer," said Adam Hauser, President/CEO of Meals on Wheels Central Texas.

Meal pick-up began at 10:45 a.m. In the past, all of the meals were delivered by 11 a.m. Click here for more information about Meals on Wheels.

Christmas Day delivery was made possible by a generous donation from the Cantu family.
