Missing Missouri children found safe, suspect in custody

SOUTHWEST CITY, Mo. — Update-- An Amber Alert out of Southwest Missouri has been canceled after the two children were found safe and the suspect was taken into custody in Oklahoma.

Original-- According to Arkansas State Police, an AMBER alert has been issued for two Missouri children, Genesis and Samuel Padron.

Police say a non-custodial parent, 35-year-old Hilda Melendez, allegedly assaulted a woman who was watching the children and took them from the home.

The children could be traveling in a 2009 Red Ford Flex (SUV), LPN: RA1J1L out of Missouri.

Police say the vehicle could also be occupied by the suspects mother, Betty. They are possibly headed toward Mexico. Recent statements made indicate the children are in danger.
