One person fatally shot, another injured in drive-by shooting in Little Rock

On Friday, Nov. 30, the Little Rock Police Department responded to a shooting in progress at W. Charles Bussey Avenue.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - On Friday, Nov. 30, at approximately 9:10 p.m., the Little Rock Police Department responded to a shooting in progress at W. Charles Bussey Avenue.

The caller reported the suspects passed by shooting into the house. Little Rock Police dispatch also received another calls to gun shots being heard in the area.

While officers were responding to this location, one shooting victim was transported the hospital by a person at the residence. Upon officers arrival they located another victim lying on the porch of the residence, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Responding officers began providing first aid to the victim until medical staff arrived. The victim located at the residence was later pronounced deceased by MEMS. The deceased victim was identified as 37-year-old Leon Mitchell Jr.

Homicide Detectives and CSSU personnel responded to the scene. During course of the investigation, several gun shell casings were located in the street. Bullet strikes were located on the residence, and also located on the vehicle used to transport the surviving victim to the hospital.

During the investigation, it was determined several people were inside the residence at the time of the shooting. The suspect vehicle in this shooting is described as a red SUV.

As of Saturday, the surviving victim was listed as in serious condition. The investigation is ongoing.
