LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Who knew you could shop fresh and local without even leaving your home?
THV11 is diving into the online world of farmers markets.
What started as a hobby for Steven Lunk turned into a small business opportunity.
“There’s no waste, it’s just very efficient," said Lunk.
But not in the typical farmers market sense. It’s all online.
“Right now we have over 650 different items; meats, eggs, dairy, lots of produce," said Lunk.
Lunk along with 16 other farmers sell their produce and items on Conway Locally Grown. Lunk runs the site, giving those busy customers the opportunity to shop fresh and shop local on their own time.
“All of the produce that the growers will produce that week are listed.”
Each week members can go to the site, look through products, choose what they want, place their order, then pick it up in a few days.
“So you can pick what you want to buy, what quantity, from what grower. They harvest just exactly what they sold and bring it to the market."
"When I first heard about online farmers markets, I was like what is this, how do you do this?" said Amanda Potter Cole.
It didn't take long for Amanda to become a regular online farmers market shopper.
“You don’t have to get out of bed. You can do it from wherever.”
She's one of many who's made online farmers markets more and more popular across the state.
“I can immediately look between prices and growing conditions," she said. “You can place your order and then you know what groceries you’re going to pick up."
