Nemo Vista Elementary, off Highway 9 and just north of Morrilton, gets the award for the best timing.

They’re having a book fair right now, and this is the peak season for reading. Why? Because for most schools, testing is over, and now we turn to keeping kids interested in books for the summer months.

A book in hand all summer means an improved student when school starts up again.

We urge parents everywhere to include books with your summer plans, along with trips to the library, books as rewards, shared reading and surprise readings.

Whatever you can dream up to make it a summer of open books!
