The day the warm-up was the story at Bale Elementary School

Craig takes us on his latest 'Reading Roadtrip' stop to Bale Elementary School.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - On the Craig O’Neill reading tour, a format has evolved.

Before Craig reads, there’s a warmup to get kids enthused about the book they’re fixing to hear. Oftentimes the warmup consists of a little fantasy.

Well Thursday, at Bale Elementary, a class of third graders was asked, “If you could be a superhero, what would you’re power be?”

Shapeshifter, incredible blinding speed, being invisible, stealing powers from other superheroes. But, when it was Phoebe’s turn she said, “To be able to pick up all the trash that people lay down so that our community could be clean.”

It was one of those moments that makes you stop, and cherish the thought, and the hope, and the altruism that lives on that child. We read the book. The kids loved it. But, Phoebe was the highlight.
