Man charged with DWI after crashing into St. Louis County police officer

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A St. Louis man has been charged after crashing into a St. Louis County police officer Thursday morning.

Brionne Thompson, 35, was charged with one count of DWI – physical injury to law enforcement or emergency personnel and one count of leaving the scene of an accident with physical injury.

He is being held on a $35,000 cash-only bond.

According to the probable cause statement, Thompson was driving a car at a high rate of speed when he entered an intersection and hit an officer while in his patrol car.

The officer’s wrist was sprained in the accident and his car was damaged.

After the accident, Thompson attempted to drive away, but his car wouldn’t start so he ran away from the scene, police said. 

He was later arrested and admitted to driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana.

This morning, a St. Louis County police officer's car was struck by ... a hit and run driver on Highway 141 near Vance Road. The officer was transported to a local hospital and treated for a minor injury. Responding officers were able to apprehend the fleeing suspect. We're glad this incident wasn't worse.
