PINE BLUFF, Ark. (KTHV) – South of Little Rock in Jefferson County was expecting to get some of the high accumulations of snow overnight.
In Pine Bluff, hundreds of people were out preparing for the season’s first winter weather.
“We’re out getting the essentials. Bread, milks eggs, cheese, cereal, baby food,” Brianna Donald said.
The potential for snow also brings excitement, as some can’t wait to see it come down.
“As an employee of Pine Bluff School District, we’re always looking forward to snow days,” Donald said.
At the Pine Bluff Police Department, police cars had chains attached to wheels so officers can make it to calls safely.
“Calls for service are still going to come in regardless of the weather conditions and we still got to answer those calls,” Pine Bluff Police Department’s Richard Wegner said.
Wegner said the department will have 10 officer patrolling throughout the night to ensure people stay safe.
“they will be diligent when they see people out walking. We’ll make sure that they’re not in fact homeless or anything like that. We don’t need anybody falling victim to the cold weather,” Wegner said.
He said people should stay inside as much as possible.
“Please understand that if you call the police or any emergency service remember response times will be a little bit longer,” Wegner said.
With the winter weather on its way, some are hoping for just enough snow to have fun in.
“Not too much. Just enough to take a few picture and save it for the scrap book,” Donald said.
