Ten people were arrested in connection to illegally distributing drugs, including marijuana and opioids, in North Little Rock, the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas announced Tuesday afternoon.

Ten people were arrested in connection to illegally distributing drugs, including marijuana and opioids, in North Little Rock, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas Cody Hiland announced Tuesday afternoon.

The arrests were a part of an operation known as "Wheelin' and Dealin'" which was led by the DEA and focused on illegal drugs in the North Little Rock area.

In addition to the 10 arrested, two other people were connected to the case. One was ordered to appear in court while another was already in custody.

Authorities used wiretaps, search warrants and controlled purchases and seizures to complete the operation. Over the course of the operation, agents obtained "nine firearms, 189 oxycodone pills, 187 alprazolam pills, 61 ecstasy pills, and several pounds of marijuana." Those arrested were charged with drug and firearm offenses.

According to a press release, the indictment claimed Michael B. Webb, Jr. was the leader behind the trafficking of illegal drugs in North Little Rock. The indictment also alleges that Terry Morrison shipped marijuana from Washington to Arkansas to Webb through the U.S. mail.

"Arresting those who abuse the nation's mail system by using it to transport illegal narcotics is one of Postal Inspectors' top concerns," Thomas L. Noyes said, the Inspector in Charge of the Fort Worth Division, U.S. Postal Inspection Service.

The people arrested will appear in court on Wednesday for plea and arraignment. Webb will appear in court at a later date.

North Little Rock Police Department, Pulaski County Sheriff's Office, United States Postal Inspection Service, and Arkansas Attorney General's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit assisted the DEA in the case.
