Debbie Foster shares her effortless recipe for Bananas Foster!

Easy Bananas Foster with Nutty Crumb and Walnuts

Serves 4-6

Ingredients

• 1/4 cup unsalted butter
• 2/3 cup dark brown sugar
• 3 Tablespoons fresh lemon juice
• 1 teaspoon rum extract, optional
• 2 Tablespoons water
• 1-2 teaspoons vanilla extract
• 1/4 cup heavy cream
• 4 bananas, cut in half and then cut lengthwise (or cut in rounds if you prefer)
• Cinnamon
• Good quality vanilla or butter pecan ice cream
• Pecan sandy cookies (5-8 crumbled)
• Toasted pecans or walnuts, optional

Directions

1. Spoon ice cream into serving bowls or cups and place in freezer until ready to serve.
2. In a large skillet or sauté pan over medium heat, melt butter.
3. Whisk in brown sugar, combining well.
4. Whisk in lemon juice, rum extract, water and vanilla; stir until combined and brown sugar is completely dissolved.
5. Reduce heat to medium low. Add in cream and whisk well until mixture is smooth and slowly simmering.
6. Lay banana pieces in the simmering sauce and spoon warm sauce over them, heating through. DO NOT OVERCOOK.
7. Sprinkle mixture with cinnamon,
8. Spoon bananas and sauce over the ice cream.
9. Top each bowl with crumbled cookies and additional nuts, if desired.
