Atlanta Police: 17-year-old dies after breaking into cars at Boulevard apartment complex

ATLANTA — A 17-year-old is dead after alleged car break-ins ended in a shooting at a southeast Atlanta apartment complex.

Atlanta Police said they are investigating the shooting, which occurred Tuesday on Boulevard. 

Officers said the two teens were allegedly breaking into cars when someone fired at them.

They somehow managed to make it back to a home on New Town Circle around 3 a.m., where help was called for them, according to police. 

One teen was taken to the hospital and was stable, according to authorities. Meanwhile the 17-year-old, identified by the medical examiner as Trevion Potts, died before making it to the hospital.

11Alive has been told that one person is in custody and is working with police.

APD is still investigating the shooting.
