Warning: You can't buy liquor anywhere in Arkansas on Christmas Day

Raising your glass for a Christmas Day toast in Arkansas will require planning ahead.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The holiday celebrations are upon us, and for a lot of people, that means sharing a cocktail.

But what do Arkansas laws say about that, Specifically on Christmas day?

You might want to plan ahead, thanks to regulations that have been in place in the state for years. 

It's a widely known fact that Sunday alcohol sales in Arkansas are banned. 

But, raising your glass for a Christmas day toast in Arkansas will require planning ahead.

"This goes back many years, 30-40 plus years," Scott Hardin said, spokesperson for Arkansas's Alcoholic Beverage Control.

He verifies alcohol sales in Arkansas are strictly prohibited on Dec. 25.

"Unfortunately on Christmas day, there is no alcohol sold in Arkansas," Hardin said. 

"That doesn't matter if you're going to a liquor store, your favorite restaurant, or you're going to a bar, you're not going to be able to purchase that drink on Christmas day." 

The Alcoholic Beverage Control rules and regulations also verifies no exception to this rule on Christmas Day.

You can, however, buy alcohol on Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, even if Dec. 31 is on a Sunday. 

But we can verify every other Sunday of the year, and Christmas Day, you can't buy beer wine or liquor

"So if you do plan to have a beverage on Christmas, you need to make that purchase prior to," Hardin said.
