Walmart has announced that over 26,000 Arkansas employees will benefit from the recently announced wage increases and one-time bonuses.

In a press release, the company stated that 26,209 Walmart and Sam's Club employees will be eligible for the change.

Walmart announced plans to raise the starting pay in the United States to $11 per hour as well as expand maternity and paternity leave. The company also stated it would create a way to help employees with adoption expenses.

"We are building on investments we've been making in associates, in their wages and skills development," said Doug McMillon, Walmart president and CEO. "It's our people who make the difference and we appreciate how they work hard to make every day easier for busy families."

The one-time cash bonus of $1,000 will be available for 26,209 employees.
