Arkansas motorcyclist group building transitional home for veteran family

What started as a motorcycle ride to raise money for veterans has switched gears.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Each month, we honor the organizations that honor the men and women who have served our country.

And this month, we salute Arkansas Honor Ride.

For the past six years, the group has been helping local veterans.

"We're a really small group," says Wendell Roberts. Small in numbers, but with a big heart. "A lot of motorcyclists are veterans," he said.

"Sometimes, they get a bad name, but they're some of the most generous people you've ever met in your life. They always show up for good causes."

What started as a motorcycle ride to raise money for veterans has switched gears. Doing service projects like helping a disabled vet help himself in and out of his home by building ramps.

And they're now going even bigger. "Our house is our main focus," he explained. This house, donated to the group to serve as a transitional home for a veteran and their family.

They're in the middle of gutting that home. And adding more events, to raise more money. Car shows, poker runs. All with one goal.

"I would like the veterans to know there are people who care," he said. "We know what you're going through, we're there to help however we can."
