Now, Annabelle Hopkins, is a bit of a social media sensation herself. Hopkins, a student at the College of Wooster, is attending the Republican National Convention this week with a group of students who are all taking a course at the school entitled “Presidential Election 2016.”

WKYC spoke to Hopkins this afternoon right after she quietly returned the earring to Ivanka Trump.

“I started a hashtag, #GetIvankaHerEarringBack”, and eventually it got the attention of one of Ivanka’s aides. I was contacted through twitter and a meeting was set up Thursday at a local hotel where Ivanka is staying,” says Hopkins.

Hopkins says Ms. Trump was grateful to get back her earring and even gave Hopkins a gift bag as a token of her appreciation.

We asked Hopkins if she ever thought of keeping or selling the earring. “Not once,” she said. “I wanted to get it back to Ivanka right away but wasn’t sure how to do so. I asked one of my professors who suggested I try social media. It worked!”
