Balgavy's Ballparks: Bryant's Landon Markham

“You don’t run into many people out here who don’t know who Landon is or don’t know his story."

BRYANT, Ark. — Nearly every night you can find the Markham family at Bishop Park in Bryant.

They have three boys who all play baseball, but tonight is Landon’s night on the diamond. The 6-year-old loves to hit but he’s also a pitcher too. “My favorite pitch is the fastball.”

Landon already has quite the reputation at the ballpark his dad says. “You don’t run into many people out here who don’t know who Landon is or don’t know his story."

“Landon was born premature, we spent about 6 months in the hospital when he was a kid, so we had a rough start.”

However, just like any true ballplayer Landon improved over time with the support of a great team. “He really dodged a lot of bullets coming out of the hospital.” It once took Landon half a year to come home, now he does it every ballgame.

“You know the future for him is unlimited to see how far he can progress and see what he can do.”
