Arkansas Travelers host community party as fans get excited for opening day

Opening day at Dickey-Stephens Park is still more than two weeks away, but on Sunday, March 24, the Arkansas Travelers hosted a party at the Southwest Community Center to get fans excited.

This was part of the "Copa De La Diversion" initiative, which aims to engage the Hispanic community -- in part by changing the name of the team and the uniforms.

"Today we're here just to engage with the community and get everyone excited about the Arkansas Travelers," general manager Paul Allen said,  and the Diamantes De Arkansas and the 10 games that we're going to have this season which will in a sense transform into Cinco De Mayo."

People who went to Sunday's party were able to enjoy free concessions, a community fashion show, field games, prices and music.

The Travelers will play their first game as the Diamantes on Friday, April 12.
