Benton falls to Greenwood in 6A championship

Benton's title hopes fell one game short as defending champs Greenwood ended the Panther's season with a 45-14 defeat.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (THV11) - Benton's title hopes fell one game short as defending champs Greenwood ended the Panther's season with a 45-14 defeat.

MVP Peyton Holt was terrific through the air and on the ground. The Senior QB finished 23-34 for 284 yards and 2 touchdowns while rushing for 109 yards and 3 touchdowns. "Man it's awesome, there is no feeling like it. Walking off the field with the trophy, you can't really describe it."

Benton head coach Brad Harris attributed the loss to Holt's play making ability. Despite the defeat Harris praised his Seniors for their effort.

"Proud of them Hayden, they’ve done a lot for our program I don’t remember the exact number but I think they’ve won 25 ballgames in the last 3 years we got to the semis once. Last year we stubbed our toe in the quarterfinals. This year we go to west Memphis and beat a team we were not suppose to beat against an undefeated team but we got beat by a real good team though."
