ATHENS, GA (THV11) - #6 Arkansas plated 6 runs in the top of the 7th innings to lead the Razorbacks to an 8-6 victory over #13 Georgia.
The Razorbacks trailed 4-2 heading into the 7th before Heston Kjerstad got the rally going with an RBI single out to center. The very next batter Luke Bonfield launched a 2-run home run to give Arkansas a 5-4 lead. Bonfield finished the game 1-3 with 2 RBI. The Hogs would add another on a Georgia past ball and an RBI single by Eric Cole. Arkansas plated 6 runs in the inning and not look bad.
Matt Cronin would come on in relief to toss 2.2 IP giving up 3 hits picking up 3 strikeouts to shutdown Georgia for the 8-6 win. Starter Blaine Knight going 6.0 IP giving up 4 runs and 5 strikeouts but picked up his 9th win of the year to finish the regular season 9-0.
The win improved Arkansas to 18-10 in SEC play to maintain a 1 game lead over Ole Miss in the SEC West. Due to threat of inclement weather game two in Athens will begin at 2:00 Friday afternoon.
