CABOT, Ark. (KTHV) - Cabot Panthers Head Basketball Coach Jerry Bridges has announced he is retiring from the Cabot School District at the end of the school year. Bridges was hired in 2004 and has been with the district for 13 years.

In 2016, Bridges and his team made school history after the Panthers captured Cabot’s first ever 7A state championship title in boys basketball after defeating Bentonville.

He also won state titles at Caddo Hills and Morrilton, and his team was state runner-up at Fort Smith Southside. Prior to coming to Cabot, Bridges served as athletic director for the Mountain Home School District.

Superintendent Dr. Tony Thurman stated, “Jerry Bridges was hired to develop a competitive boys basketball program. He definitely accomplished that goal after winning a state championship title for Cabot when no one ever thought it would be possible.

We thank Coach Bridges for all his hard work in mentoring, coaching, and teaching our students. We wish him all the best in the future.” Bridges has been coaching and teaching for more than three decades. “Leaving Cabot is bittersweet,” says Bridges, “but I’ve loved every single minute. I’ll always be a Cabot Panther.”

The Cabot School District will immediately begin the process of hiring a new Cabot Panthers Head Basketball Coach. If you have any questions, contact Athletic Director Rob Coleman, or you can apply online at www.cabotschools.org.
