Darren McFadden has officially retired from the NFL after being put on the waiver wire by the Dallas Cowboys.
McFadden announced his retirement through a statement on Twitter Tuesday afternoon. He thanked people who helped him during his football career as well as his family.
"I also would not have had the success I had without many great coaches and teammates along the way," McFadden said. "To all of my offensive lines - thank you [for] paving the way for me with your blood and sweat."

The former Arkansas Razorback also thanked his coaches, including Houston Nutt and Danny Nutt.
McFadden's career in the NFL was riddled with injuries that cut many of his seasons short, but when he played he displayed the running power that made him so successful in college.
The former Razorback's best season came in his third year in the league where he played 13 games for the Oakland Raiders and amassed 1,157 rushing yards. He also added 507 receiving yards with 10 total touchdowns.
"I look forward to what the future holds," McFadden said, "spending time with my family, pursuing some outside interests and, of course, going to a few Arkansas football games!"
Even though McFadden played ten seasons in the NFL for two different teams, he never appeared in a playoff game. The 2016 Dallas Cowboys made the playoffs while he was on the team, but McFadden was injured. The Cowboys lost that game 31-34 to the Green Bay Packers.
