England Lions legend coaches final game in Arkansas

Doesn’t matter if it’s the playoffs in November or an All-Star game in June. Terry Farmer has only missed one East vs. West game in 25 years

CONWAY, Ark. (THV11) - Ask anyone who’s ever done it. Coaching is a year round job.

“All-Star week is a process, it’s not just Friday night. It’s all week and it’s been a lot of fun.” Even more fun, Farmer is coaching two of his own including quarterback Brayden Brazeal.

“It’s really fun and he gives you the offense and it’s really fun. He gives you freedom that’s for sure.”

But this isn’t just another night for a coach and a QB, in fact it’s the final night Terry Farmer will coach in Arkansas. “I started having heat problems and not being able to go through a full practice without overheating and going to the doctor and going through all kinds of tests and then they found out I had the prostate cancer.”
It was a tough blow for a tough coach, that resulted in one of the toughest decisions of his life. Leaving Arkansas for another coaching job in the cooler climate of Michigan.

“There is no humidity and I’ve been able to concentrate on my physical well being and I’ve been able to help a lot more on the field.” The former England High School Coach will leave behind much more that conference titles and winning records, but a grateful community that’s sad to see him go.

“He helped me a lot and he teaches me a lot, for the next level and everything and I’ll take that with me for sure” says Brazeal”.

So for one final night, Coach Terry Farmer of England leads a group of young men here in the Natural State.

“You know I got here in 91 and I love the people, I love this state and Arkansas is still home to me”
