Parkview hoping to win first football championship since 1978

The Patriots will hope to win their first state football championship since 1978.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — On Saturday, Parkview will make its first state title appearance since 1983. The Patriots will take on Shiloh Christian for the 5A title and the Parkview community is excited.

Parkview Head Coach Brad Bolding said.

"The fans are talking about tailgating before the game, it's exciting. You stop at convenience stores on Barrow Road. There's just a buzz in the community, especially around the school. our kids are from all over little rock but the barrow community is really exciting it's pretty neat," Parkview Head Coach Brad Bolding said.

The Patriots took down Robinson to clinch their spot in the championship game while the saints took down Camden Fairview.

This will be the 4th straight title game appearance for Shiloh, but they've never won it all in 5A.

Although Parkview hasn't played for a championship in decades, the patriots are familiar with war memorial stadium. It's where the Patriots play all their home games and they hope the fans will show out.

"I expect it to be live with more people than when we played greenwood or Southwest. I expect it to be better than every game,"  Defensive Lineman Isiah McKenzie said.

The Patriots went 11-2 this season. Their two losses were from North Little Rock and defending 7A champ Bryant. Parkview has worked hard all year and they're hoping it'll all pay off on Saturday.

"We stay focused and stay calm. We don't panic under pressure, we just look at the next play and make that play"  Parkview Defensive End Jude Onuoha said.

The Parkview Patriots will take on the Shiloh Christian Saints on Saturday, December 3rd at Noon. All state football championship games will be on Arkansas PBS.
