NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Flooding continues to be a threat in Central Arkansas but one of the best basketball programs in the state is doing everything they can to protect their community.
The NLR Charging Wildcats spent Thursday filling and moving sandbags along Gribble Street in North Little Rock. Head coach Johnny Rice is a Rose City native and wanted to help give back to the area where he grew up.
"You know there is kind of a slogan in there, one bag at a time. That one bag is important to somebody and that's been their slogan."
Senior Spencer Simes is grateful for the opportunity to help out his fellow neighbors. "It truly is a heartwarming feeling. I'm glad Coach Rice did this because everybody was like wow, this is a great opportunity."
NLR alumni and resident Sonya Irving is glad to have the support of the team. "As a North Little Rock alumni it makes my heart feel so good to see these young men out here and help their community."
