LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Athletes who competed in this year's Special Olympics in Abu Dhabi are back home. One of those athletes is from Arkansas.

Krista Carstens of Mena competed in four track events and won silver and bronze medals.

THV11 caught up with her as she arrived at the Clinton Airport earlier on Saturday, March 23. She tells us, aside from her accomplishments, she was happy to experience a new culture.

"The tallest building in the world where we were, in Dubai, they have the tallest building," Carstens said. "We got to go to a little school and they sang the national anthem for us. We got to go play with them and they came to the track and cheered for us."

The other three Arkansans in the delegation also returned on Saturday. Jennifer Grantham of Bryant participated as the assistant power lifting coach, and Jerry Bridges of Fort Smith and Irvin Humphrey of Russellville were assistant coaches for the track team.
