Sheridan baseball and softball looking to defend their 6A state championship crows as the postseason approaches.

SHERIDAN, Ark. (THV11) - Communication is always the key to a successful team, Sheridan baseball is no exception especially under head coach Michael Moore.

"You know kids come here and they already know what we’re going to do. They know we’re going to have to run loops and they know our signs. Kids that come to the ballpark knows our signs so kids over there can say they’re getting ready to bunt ready to bunt."

Tyler Cleveland is one of these kids. He grew up coming to games at this ballpark and in 2017 he lived his dream leading his Yellowjackets to a state title. "I love to get back to it. The experience definitely helps with everybody there seeing it and I think this team has what it takes to do it and they’re ready for it."

If there is any doubt this team Sheridan team can go back-to-back look no further than 50 feet away. Because this Sheridan team, already did it under head coach Tamara Strawn.

"These girls know what they’re getting into and they come in and work hard and to have baseball right behind us. We love that and that’s part of the jacket program all around." The softball team captured the 6A title in 2017 & 2016 led by Senior and future Razorback Maggie Hicks.

"We’ve played together for years. I played with some of these girls before high school and I know some of these girls have played together long before that before we got to high school."

Many of the players have grown up together so long, they’ve become their biggest rivals. "They’re all best friends on that team and all best friends with us so we definitely talk about it and see who finishes better in the season." So whether you’re baseball or softball. If you come up in Sheridan you’ll likely end up right here. "You grow up coming out and watching the big boys play and knowing that you want to be out there one day."
