Travs can't recover from early deficit against Rockhounds

Evan White had three hits and extended his hit streak to 21 games

MIDLAND, Texas — Despite banging out 11 hits and drawing five walks, the Arkansas Travelers scored just once in a 3-1 loss to the Midland RockHounds. The defeat is the Travs first in the second half of the season and ends a four game win streak. Midland scored all three of their runs in the first inning before Darren McCaughan settled in and worked five scoreless after that. Kyle Friedrichs earned the win dealing six shutout innings with 10 strikeouts. Arkansas went just 1-13 with runners in scoring position.

 

Moments That Mattered

* The Travs would have had runners at first and third with one out in the opening inning but Luis Liberato tried to score from third when the throw to the infield on Kyle Lewis' hit briefly got away but he was thrown out on a close play at the plate.

* Luis Barrera opened the bottom of the first with homer into the short porch in right field to get the 'Hounds rolling on their three-run inning.

* Arkansas scored in the eighth on a wild pitch with two out and eventually loaded the bases but could not come up with any more.
