White defeats Red 27-25 in Razorback spring game

The Razorbacks took the field in front of 7,000 fans as White defeated Red in the annual spring game.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (THV11) - In front of a very chilly 7,000 screaming Razorback fans, the white defeated red 27-25 in the annual spring game at War Memorial Stadium.

Head coach Chad Morris wrapped up his first spring Saturday afternoon on a "gorgeous and beautiful day for football" despite times of snow and sleet during the game. All eyes coming into the game were on the QB battle. Ty Storey took the first snaps tossing 7-14 for 126 yards including a 53-yard touchdown to Cheyenne O'Grady in the 1st quarter.

"My job was easy, I just got him the ball and he ran it." Storey was also asked following the game if he felt that he separated himself from Cole Kelley. "That's not really my question to answer, I'm just trying to play a little football and have some fun with it.

Kelley finished the afternoon 10-19 for 126 yards and a touchdown of his own to O'Grady. "Everyday you go out and battle somebody so you just have to kind of embrace it."

Wide receiver La'Michael Pettway was a big standout catching six passes for 91 yards. Morris wants to see the consistency with Pettway pick up heading into the summer and fall camp. "Today he chose it was time to be consistent, he's big, he's physical, he runs well, he's got good ball skills, and it's time."

Arkansas opens the season at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium September 1st against Eastern Illinois.
