LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Around 10:00 Thursday morning, March 21, a strange accident on I-440 westbound, at the downtown exit.
One of the big green signs hanging above the highway fell onto the asphalt. A car stopped, to avoid hitting it-- and got rear-ended.
Fortunately, nobody was hurt.
The transportation department said incidents like this are rare.
“These signs are inspected every 4 years,” ARDOT spokesman, Danny Straessle said. “This one was inspected in 2016. So we do keep up with this and make sure all is as it should be.”
Soon after the wreck, the sign was removed with no other incidents.
