The agency says that U.S. 278 in Ouachita County reopened Friday morning after crews worked to fill in a 15-foot crater (4.5-meter) caused by the blast Wednesday morning .

The driver, 63-year-old Randall McDougal, was killed in the explosion. Authorities say McDougal's commercial truck was hauling ammonium nitrate, a chemical commonly used in fertilizer.

Authorities say McDougal had called 911 to report that his brakes had caught fire, and he was killed when the truck exploded.

Officials have not yet determined what caused the fire.
