LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — There is a risk of severe weather in Arkansas Monday into Monday night. A potent storm system will approach Arkansas from the west beginning early Monday morning. A warm front will lift across the region from south to north providing the first round of thunderstorms. Later in the evening, a cold front will enter the state prompting round two.

Round one will develop in West and Southwest Arkansas by 2pm and impact Central Arkansas through the afternoon.

Round two will cross the Oklahoma/Arkansas state line around 8pm this evening. Current model guidance brings this round into the metro between 10pm - 2am. It's possible that round one will stabilize the atmosphere enough to limit the severity of round two.

At this time, the greatest threat of severe weather will be over central and southern Arkansas. The area highlighted in yellow indicates a Slight Risk, and the area in Orange is an Enhanced Risk.

All modes of severe weather will be possible with large hail, damaging straight-line winds, and even a few tornadoes. Given there will be a good amount of moisture present, flooding concerns are also warranted. A flash flood watch is in effect for the southeast half of the state until Tuesday morning.
