Book written by a librarian comes alive | Craig's Reading Roadtrip

This week Craig O'Neill took the book on tour and read it to students at Lawson and Meadowcliff Elementary schools.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Monica Clark-Robinson has just begun her new job at the downtown branch of the Central Arkansas Library System. She is passionate about books.

So much so, that she wrote one and it has just been published, ‘Let the Children March.’

It’s illustrated beautifully by Frank Morrison, it gives the account of the children’s march in Birmingham, Alabama in 1963. The story is told from the perspective of a little African-American girl. This week Craig O’Neill took the book on his reading roadtrip and read it to students at Lawson and Meadowcliff Elementary schools.

He got students to read the book with him. The children learned the story of how over a thousand children 55 years ago, changed the world. Clark-Robinson will be one of the presenting authors at next week’s Literary Festival, sponsored by CALS (the Central Arkansas Library System) at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 28. A reader’s theater will present a program based on the book.

It’s scheduled in the Youth Services section of the Main Library. All those who hear it and read it will know that sometimes it’s our children who can lead the forces of change.
