WINDER, Ga. — A tiny kitten has found a new home after it was fished out of a sewer drain.

Winder Police Department announced the whiskery rescue Tuesday, sharing that last week was a moment of bravery for one of its officers and the kitten.

The officer was on patrol when he saw a bystander waving him down by the side of the road, leading him to the trapped cat.

According to Winder Police, the fire department and local animal control was notified of the catastrophe. Authorities were able to help get the storm grade off, but the kitten was too shy to scuttle through.

Paw-sitive he could coax the cat out, the officer laid down small pieces of food. Luckily, the kitten was not a sourpuss and fell for the feed. Once close enough, the officer plucked the kitten from the drain, despite being allergic to cats himself, according to the police department.

Without a sniffle, the officer was able to hand the cat over to animal control. The kitten didn't have a collar or tag, so the bystander volunteered to take the little fluffball home.

"Thanks to the quick work of all involved, this cute kitten was rescued and has found a new home!" the department said.
