An Arkansas man was arrested and is being charged with embezzlement after he allegedly embezzled thousands of dollars from a local church camp where he worked.

BRYANT, Ark. — An Arkansas man was arrested and is being charged with embezzlement after he allegedly embezzled over $23,000 from a church camp where he worked.

According to reports from the Bryant Police Department (BPD), an investigation into embezzlement allegations began on March 19, 2024.

Bryant police said that the allegations were first brought up to the Saline County Prosecuting Attorney, who then shared the information with BPD.

During the investigation, it was discovered that Phillip Batchelor had been embezzling money from the National Camp at Bogg Springs, a church organization where he was an employee.

Authorities discovered that Batchelor had been embezzling money for two years from the National Camp bank account — he had access to the funds due to his role as camp treasurer.

The total amount of money that Batchelor allegedly stole from National Camp is $23,790.96.

BPD said in the report that the initial allegations were brought to the prosecuting attorney by four National Camp representatives.
