BCSO arrests 29 during 3-day sex offender compliance operation

BENTON COUNTY, Ark. — The Benton County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) announced today the results of a sex offender compliance operation that ended in 29 arrests. 

According to a release from BCSO, the multi-jurisdictional sex offender compliance checks operation lasted three days. 

BCSO says that there are a total of 620 sex offenders in Benton County. 300 compliance checks were conducted, with 260 meaningful contacts made. 

Additionally, 29 arrests were made, over 20 warrants were actively pursued, and 25 electronic devices were seized, according to the release.

"Our collective goal is crystal clear – to protect our children and uphold the highest standards of safety. Through stringent compliance checks and steadfast enforcement of state laws, we're working diligently to ensure the well-being of our community," the release said. 

Shannon Jenkins, the public information officer for BCSO, told 5NEWS that most of the arrests were for failure to comply with sex offender rules.

The operation involved the Bentonville Police Department, Homeland Security, Probation and Parole, the Centerton Police Department, U.S. Marshals, the Siloam Springs Police Department, the Gentry Police Department, the Sulphur Springs Police Department, and the Gravette Police Department.
