Boyfriend shoots girlfriend in the face at Garland County residence

GARLAND COUNTY, Arkansas — On Thursday, Jan. 30, at 2:33 a.m., the Garland County Communications Center received a call in reference to a shooting on Durham Loop. 

At 2:37 a.m., deputies arrived on scene and made contact with a 43-year-old female who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the face. 

The victim advised deputies that her live-in boyfriend, 45-year-old Cody Woolems, had shot her and was still in their residence. She was transported by Lifenet to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Deputies then made contact Woolems inside the residence. After Woolems refused to come out, the Garland County Sheriff’s Office Crisis Negation Team began conversing with Woolems and was successful in the aiding of his surrender. 

Woolems was placed into custody and transported to the Garland County Sheriff’s Office for questioning.

Cody Woolems is charged with Domestic Battery 1st Degree. He is being held at the Garland County Detention Center.

The case is still under investigation.
