Police: Suspect arrested in homicide of Brinkley man

A 24-year-old has been charged with 1st-degree murder for the death of a Brinkley man that happened early on Tuesday morning.

BRINKLEY, Ark. — Shortly before 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning, officers with the Brinkley Police Department responded to reports of a physical altercation and a shooting at 510-A South Carter Street.

According to reports, 53-year-old Jimmy Lee Dillard was pronounced dead at the scene.

At the request of Brinkley Police, the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division is leading the investigation into the homicide. 

Officers were able to identify 24-year-old Tren-Terrious Stidum as a suspect in the case and he is being held at the Monroe County Detention Center on a charge of 1st-degree murder.

Stidum is scheduled to appear for a bond hearing in a Brinkley court on Wednesday.

The investigation into this incident remains ongoing, and Dillard's body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab to determine the cause of death.
