Arkansas's woes continue in loss to Florida

Arkansas's woes continued in Gainesville as Florida put together a 22-2 run midway through the first half to build a lead from which the Hogs couldn't battle back.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Arkansas's woes continued in a 90-68 loss to Florida at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center Saturday.

The Razorbacks have lost three consecutive games and are 0-3 in SEC play.

Arkansas fell behind early, allowing the Gators to score 13 unanswered points to take an 18-7 lead with 14:01 to play in the first half.

Layden Blocker led the Hogs with 14 points, four rebounds and one assist. Jeremiah Davenport added 13 points and three assists, while Tramon Mark and Joseph Pinion each added 12 points.

Poor shooting has plagued the Razorbacks during their losing slump, and Saturday's loss to Florida was no different as the team shot 37.7% from the field and 5 of 15 (33.3%) from behind the arc.

Pinion made two of those three-pointers, who nailed a three and a layup to help Arkansas on a 7-0 run to cut the Gators' lead to 32-22 with 6:47 left in the first half.

Florida's offensive efficiency made it challenging for the Hogs to get over the early deficit as the Gators took a 13-point lead into the half.

Riley Kugel scored a game-high 20 points and had five rebounds for the Gators, who shot 49.3% from the field as a team. Samuel Tyrese contributed 17 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

The second half was no different.

Florida sprinted out of the gate and started the final 20 minutes with a barrage of jumpers to take a 57-37 lead with 16:26 to play.

Arkansas starters Davonte Davis and Makhi Mitchell were held scoreless by the Gator defense.

The Razorbacks return home to battle Texas A&M on Jan. 16. Coverage from Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville begins at 8:00 p.m. Central on the SEC Network.
