Arkansas man arrested and charged with fentanyl overdose death of man

An Alexander man has now been charged for his involvement in the fentanyl overdose death of a 41-year-old man.

SEARCY, Ark. — The Central Arkansas Drug Task Force has now arrested an Alexander man for his involvement in the fentanyl overdose death of a man.

According to reports, 41-year-old Arthur Lamon Joyner Jr. was charged with aggravated death by delivery for the death of 41-year-old Douglas E. Johnson of Star City.

On October 16, officers with Searcy police responded to the Hampton Inn on Poplar Street with reports of a possible overdose.

Once they arrived they found Johnson unresponsive and performed CPR. He was also given Narcan but was pronounced dead while at the scene.

During the investigation, agents uncovered that Joyner had sold Johnson pills that contained fentanyl, which ultimately led to Johnson's overdose death.

An arrest warrant was then issued and served on Monday. Joyner has now been transported to the White County Jail on a bond of $250,000.
