WALDRON, Ark. — At the request of the Scott County Sheriff's Office (SCSO), the Criminal Investigation Division of Arkansas State Police is now investigating a homicide that happened in Waldron on Wednesday evening.
According to reports, the SCSO arrived at a home on AR-250 just before 6:00 p.m. where they found 69-year-old Russell Lewellen shot multiple times.
He was taken to the hospital and was later pronounced dead. The body has been taken to the Arkansas State Crime Lab to determine a cause of death.
A 34-year-old Waldron man was arrested and charged with first-degree murder for his alleged involvement in the incident.
Police have not released the identity of this man but they say that he is currently being held at the Scott County Detention Center.
