FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) - The Arkansas Supreme Court has scheduled a hearing in Fort Smith.

The state's highest court plans to hear oral arguments in a Lonoke County case when it convenes in the Northside High School Auditorium on Thursday.

The hearing is part of the court's "Appeals on Wheels" event that's intended to provide residents the chance to see how the court and the appellate process works.

The court has held 18 such hearings outside of Little Rock since a constitutional amendment passed by voters in 2000 allowed it to meet at times and places designated by the court.

This is the second trip to Fort Smith while other locations where the court has met include Jonesboro, Fayetteville, El Dorado, Texarkana, Blytheville, Monticello, Hope, Harrison, Helena, Hot Springs, Bentonville, Conway, and Pine Bluff.
