CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV)- A Faulkner County deputy is recovering after being hit by a bullet in an attempted drug raid on Tuesday morning. It happened after Conway Police, the Faulkner County Sheriff's Office and the Drug Task force attempted to search a home in Conway in the early morning hours.

The Deputy Chief Matt Rice from the Faulkner County Sheriff's Office along with the other agencies were at the Clifton Heights Apartments at six a.m. They attempted to serve an apartment with a narcotics search warrant. Before they could go inside, shots were from inside the home. "We did not fire one round," said Deputy Chief Rice. "All the rounds came from inside the house."

One round hit a deputy in the stomach. "He was sent to Conway Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released- he's good."

Cody Boose and Stephanie Fason were taken into custody. Boose is the one accused of shooting the deputy.

Some neighbors say they haven't seen any problems in the neighborhood recently and the event's this morning came as a shock. Melynda Robinson did not expect her day off to start off like this. She lives right across the street from the apartments. "I knew something was going on across the street. You could see the door is busted open."

Robinson said she couldn't identify the loud bangs at first. "When I got up out of the bed, I thought it was just a car crash- or a slamming of a door."

Both Cody Boose and Stephanie Fayson are being held at the Faulkner County Jail. The Arkansas State Police is investigating the deputy shooting and after they are done investigating, authorities will continue the initial drug investigation.
